Castledaly native John Keogh is the new Managing Director of Retail Operations at the Dublin-based commercial vehicles firm Harris Group.

Castledaly man John Keogh has been appointed as Managing Director of Retail Operations at the commercial vehicles firm Harris Group.

The large private automotive company said Mr Keogh's appointment was "part of a significant company-wide restructuring as Harris Group enters a new era of growth and innovation".

Mr Keogh is a Castledaly native who resides in Hall, Moate. A past pupil of Kilcleagh NS and the Carmelite College in Moate, he joins Harris Group having previously worked for Tullamore-based Longhaul Commercials.

A statement issued on behalf of his new employer said: "As part of Harris Group's ambition to evolve, John will oversee a number of key divisions including retail sales, service and parts.

"He will also be responsible for technological innovation at Harris Group, optimising the modern retailing concept and supporting the ongoing digital transformation of the business as it positions itself as the best-in-class digitally-lead automotive retailer."

Mr Keogh's career in the motor industry spans almost three decades. He is a qualified motor mechanic and automotive technician who is passionate about continuous learning and education.

His first role was as a truck mechanic and, from there, he joined the team at Avis Truck Rental. A number of sales roles followed, including 18 years with Harris Commercial Motors where he was sales manager.

Established in 1961 by the late Pino Harris, Harris Group is currently helmed by his wife, Denise Harris. Under her leadership, the company anticipates substantial growth in 2024 across various departments, encompassing sales and distribution, after-sales services, parts and assembly, and training.

Harris Group is based on the Naas Road in Dublin.
