Longer red wind warning periods locally

Met Éireann has just extended the duration of the red wind warnings in place for Westmeath and Roscommon.

The warning was in place tomorrow from 3am to 5am in Roscommon; at 8.30pm tonight that has now been extended to 2am to 5am, whilst in Westmeath, the red warning will now apply from 5am to 8am, and not 5am to 7am, as previously indicated.

This is likely to have knock-on impacts on transport and other services and people are advised to monitor news services for changes.

The 2am to 5am warning now also includes Kerry, Limerick and Tipperary, in addition to the already announced Clare, Galway and Roscommon.

And six other counties have been added to the second red wind warning. This now covers Dublin, Kildare, Laois, Louth, Meath and Wicklow in addition to Offaly and Westmeath. This now extends from 5am to 8am.
