Local photographer Ger Rogers was on hand to capture these remarkable images of the aurora borealis, or northern lights, at Lough Boora Parklands in Offaly last night (Sunday).

Ger, who is based in Tullamore, said "the sky was alive" during the dazzling display.

According to news reports, the northern lights could be seen across multiple European countries yesterday, including Ireland, England, Scotland, Denmark and Norway.
