Dublin Marathon gives massive shout out to Team Archie
The Irish Life Dublin Marathon 2023 has given a massive shout out to brave Roscommon brothers, George & Isaac Naughton, who will be taking in the Irish Life Dublin Marathon with Team Archie this weekend.
In a touching post across all their social media channels, which was accompanied by a picture of the brothers, the Dublin Marathon organisers said the two young sons of Pauric and Paula Naughton, had demonstrated " tremendous courage in training and in their decision to complete the Marathon in memory of their brother Archie .. and we’re so proud of everything they’ve achieved."
The organisers of this week's event added that they "look forward to welcoming Team Archie to the start line" over the weekend.
George and Isaac Naughton both suffer from Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy (DMD), a progressive neuromuscular disease which destroys muscle tissue.
The eldest of the Naughton family, Archie, who also bravely battled DMD for a number of years, passed away in July of last year in the Coronary Care Unit of the Mater Hospital at the tender age of 16 years.
The parents of the three boys have worked tirelessly to raise awareness of DMD and to raise funds for research into the incurable disease since all of their children were diagnosed with the devastating condition in November 2012.
