From arranging flowers to arranging music for local singer
Taughmaconnell singer and florist Ciara Lawless goes from working in her flower shop by day, to arranging music by night, where she writes and records her own music.
The 24-year-old South Roscommon songbird is celebrating the release of her second single 'I Am Your Healer’ after making her mark on the music industry with her debut single, ‘Half The Man’, in May of this year.
Since then, Ciara has been sharpening her stage skills over the summer, performing at various festivals including The Mná Festival at Dun na Sí in Moate and The Lovestock Festival in Tuamgraney, Co Clare.
The former Bower student, who in her own words describes her sound as contemporary folk which has drawn comparisons to the likes of Kate Bush, a major influence along with the likes of Joni Mitchell and Florence Welsh, delves into the profound themes of love, self-discovery, and healing in her highly-rated second single.
The song, which has already got some airplay on Late Date presented on Fiachna O'Braonain on RTE Radio 1, promises to captivate hearts and minds, leaving an indelible imprint on all who encounter its ethereal melodies. And this is only the beginning for Ciara, with a full album set to grace our ears in April next year.
Ciara writes and sings contemporary pop songs exploring modern themes of mindfulness and wellbeing. Her songs are easy listening contemporary pop songs incorporating elements of subtle folk music with pop sensibilities delivered with particularly distinctive voice.
Her songs are mellow and melodic evoking a sense of nostalgia and exploring modern themes of mindfulness and wellbeing as well as touching on current themes such as climate change.
Ciara's music journey began at a young age when she started taking classes in acting and singing in Athlone, later taking singing classes with Petrova Mulvey. She later developed an interest in classical and opera, training at the Academy of Music in Tullamore, where she also competed in national and international competitions.
While some singers cut their chops while climbing the music ladder, Ciara earned her singing stripes as a funeral singer, something that she is very proud and honoured to do.
She then fell in love with songwriting and was lucky enough to get the opportunity to go to LA and France and to collaborate with some very talented singer/songwriters and hone her craft.
Now, she combines her musical passion for music with floristry and her radio duties in Ros FM, where she presents and contributes to several shows, sharing interviews on a variety of topics from music to farming, climate change and everything in between.
