Changeable weather with rain and showers at times. So says the latest weather bulletin from Met Éireann.

Long spells of sunshine today with just a few passing showers, these largely confined to Connacht and Ulster. Top temperatures of 16 to 19 degrees in moderate westerly breezes, fresh on northern coasts.

Clear spells and scattered showers on Thursday night with the odd heavy shower possible in Atlantic coastal counties. Lowest temperatures of 9 to 12 degrees in a moderate to fresh west to northwest breeze.

Friday will be a breezy day with a mix of sunshine and showers. Some of the showers will be heavy with the chance of thunder. Maximum temperatures of 16 to 19 degrees in fresh and gusty northwest winds, strong on the northwest coast.

Further showers are expected on Friday night, especially across the northern half of the country. Lowest temperatures of 9 to 12 degrees in a fresh northwest breeze.

On Saturday, there'll be a mix of sunny spells and showers, some of the showers may turn heavy and thundery in the afternoon. A fresh and breezy day with highs of 15 to 19 degrees in fresh northwest winds. On Saturday night, cloud will thicken from the Atlantic with persistent rain developing in most areas by dawn on Sunday. Lowest temperatures of 10 to 12 degrees in a moderate westerly breeze.

Rain and drizzle will clear eastwards into the Irish Sea on Sunday morning with a day of sunshine and scattered showers following for the afternoon and evening. Maximum temperatures on Sunday of 16 to 20 degrees in a fresh northwest breeze. A few showers about on Sunday night, but overall a good deal of dry weather is expected. Lowest temperatures of 10 to 13 degrees in a moderate northwest breeze.

It looks set to be mostly dry on Monday with sunny spells and just a few passing showers. Highest temperatures of 17 to 21 degrees in a light westerly breeze.

Further Outlook: The changeable and rather unsettled weather pattern will persist throughout much of next week.
