Brighter spells to start but mainly cloudy with patchy rain

Rather unsettled with rain or showers most days. Overall, a little cooler than average too. That's your weather outlook for the coming days.

Some brighter spells early on Friday but overall cloudy with patchy rain and drizzle, mainly across the north to begin. Cloud will thicken as outbreaks of rain and drizzle gradually move in from the Atlantic, heaviest in the west and northwest, driest overall across the southeast. Cooler than average with highest temperatures of 15 to 18 or 19 degrees Celsius, best values in the southeast. Winds will be mostly moderate westerly, later backing southwesterly and freshening along Atlantic coasts.

Tonight will be wet and misty with further outbreaks of rain and drizzle, some heavy bursts and spot flooding expected, especially later. Mild and humid with lowest temperatures of 12 to 15 degrees Celsius in light to moderate southwest winds, breezier however along western and southern coasts.

Saturday will be mostly wet and misty with ongoing outbreaks of rain, heavy and persistent at times, especially early on and across Ulster throughout. Humid with top temperatures of 16 to 19 or 20 degrees Celsius, best values across Leinster. Southwest to west winds will be mostly light to moderate in strength.

Further outbreaks of rain are expected Saturday night with possible heavy falls. Mild, humid and rather misty with lowest temperatures of 12 to 15 degrees Celsius. Winds will be mainly north to west in direction and mostly light to moderate in strength, a little fresher however near coasts.

Overnight low cloud and rain will persist into the morning hours on Sunday, again with possible heavy falls. While brighter skies will gradually develop, scattered heavy showers will follow into the afternoon and early evening, later becoming fewer. Highest temperatures of 17 to 21 degrees Celsius, in mostly moderate north to northwest winds.

Overall a good deal of dry weather on Monday with sunny spells and just well scattered showers. Some of the showers may turn heavy though later across the south and east. Highest temperatures of 15 to 20 degrees Celsius (north to south) in just light northwesterly breezes.

Another mostly dry day on Tuesday with sunny spells and scattered showers, turning heavier later. Highest temperatures of 16 to 19 degrees Celsius, in mostly light westerly breezes.
