Athlone Sub-Aqua Club to host fundraising swim in August
On foot of its hugely successful Bay to BBQ major fundraising swim held in September 2021, Athlone Sub-Aqua Club has announced that on Saturday, August 12 next, there will be another occasion to take part in a fundraising swim event in aid of the club.
The swim course will be a 2km circuit starting from the slipway at Coosan Point and extending eastwards out along the lakes of Lough Ree, covering swim distance options of 2, 4 and 6km.
The swim will take place on Saturday, August 12, from 10.30 am.
Participants can choose whether they wish to pay the €70 entry fee themselves or whether they wish to fundraise this amount.
The swim is a public event open to anyone who wishes to take part, including junior swimmers aged 16 and above, who will be permitted to take part with the consent of a parent or guardian. Tow floats are mandatory for all participants.
All participants will receive a timing chip, a swim hat, an Athlone Sub-Aqua Club snood, and a medal of participation.
There will be a 1st, 2nd and 3rd place trophy for male and female entrants to each swim distance.
All those wishing to take part in the Fundraising Swim on August 12 must complete a registration form, which is available on the Athlone Sub-Aqua Club website.
