Tullamore to host double header of All-Ireland championship action
Glenisk O'Connor Park, Tullamore will host a double header of All-Ireland football championship action this Saturday after the GAA confirmed its fixtures for next weekend.
Top of the bill in Tullamore will be the meeting of Kildare and Monaghan in one of the four All-Ireland SFC preliminary quarter-finals (4.45pm).
As the second placed team in their group, Kildare are entitled to home advantage in this game but with St Conleth's Park, Newbridge out of commission at present, Tullamore will host the game instead.
Glenisk O'Connor Park was a happy hunting ground for Kildare yesterday (Sunday) when they edged out Roscommon and now Glenn Ryan's men will hoping for a similar result against Monaghan. That defeat to Kildare leaves Roscommon facing a trip to Páirc Uí Chaoimh to face Cork (Saturday, 2pm).
The Kildare v Monaghan clash will be preceded by the All-Ireland MFC semi-final between Munster champions Kerry and Monaghan (2.30). So Monaghan supporters have two reasons to travel to Tullamore, while there are two attractive games for neutral fans from across the midlands to enjoy.
Meanwhile, the TUS Gaelic Grounds in Limerick will host the two All-Ireland senior hurling quarter-finals on Saturday, and the Galway v Mayo football showdown will take place on Sunday and will be televised on RTE.
