Pat Burke wins Westmeath Poc Fada
The senior and U16 Poc Fada competitions took place last Wednesday in Kilbeggan Racecourse.
In the senior, Ringtown's Pat Burke (19 pucks) edged out Conor Bracken of St Oliver Plunkett’s (22 pucks).
The U16 competition developed into a three-horse-race with Sean Hayes of St Oliver Plunkett’s (22 pucks), getting past the finishing post ahead of Lough Lene Gaels' Cathal Óg Fagan and Turin's Kylan Heffernan (both 23 pucks).
Congratulations to Pat and Sean, who will now go on to represent Westmeath in their respective Leinster competitions, being held in Carlow on the July 8.
Thanks to all who took part and their spotters, to Kilbeggan Racecourse for hosting; to Bernie Coroon and Johnny Greville for organising, and to Alan McCormack assisting with the event.
