Exhibition in Athlone Library to remember Polish explorer
A new exhibition in Athlone Library will remember Polish explorer, volunteer and administrator Paweł Edmund Strzelecki, who helped to save thousands of Irish children during the Great Famine.
Special 'Paul Strzelecki Exhibition' created by Polish Embassy Dublin will be presented in Athlone Library from Friday, June 2 for three weeks and is open to the public in English, Polish and Irish languages.
This year marks the 150th anniversary of the death of Paweł who was chosen as Patron of the Year 2023 among seven outstanding Poles. The Midlands Polish Community would like to thank the Polish Embassy in Dublin for "the opportunity to bring this figure closer to both our compatriots and the Irish community as a whole."
