Photos show interior of new Ballinasloe cinema opening "very soon"

The five-screen Omniplex cinema in Ballinasloe is getting ready to open, with new photos giving a glimpse of what it will look like.

In a post on social media in recent days, Ballinasloe Omniplex said it was "so excited to finally present our incredible 5-screen Omniplex to cinema fans" in the east Galway town.

"Our luxurious MAXX Recline screen will blow you away," it predicted.

The cinema is located in Dunlo, next to the town's Aldi store.

The specific date for its opening has not yet been announced, but Ballinasloe Omniplex said it would be happening "very soon".

Local Senator Aisling Dolan posted a video outside the facility as the 'Omniplex' signage was being added to the front of the building.

"Hopefully it will be opening really shortly," said Senator Dolan. "It just shows you all the things that are happening around this region and in county Galway."

She also welcomed the announcement of up to 1,000 jobs that are due to be created by US multinational Dexcom in Athenry.

"Can you imagine all the construction, all the spin off business that's going to bring, and all the people looking for a great place to live, and why not Ballinasloe?"
