Roscommon and Mayo name teams for Castlebar clash

Ben O'Carroll will make his senior championship debut for Roscommon in this Sunday's Connacht quarter-final against Mayo in Castlebar.

The talented St Brigid's attacker made an exciting impact during this year's Allianz Football League and has been rewarded with a starting place.

Roscommon manager Davy Burke has also handed championship debuts to goalkeeper Conor Carroll and midfielder Dylan Ruane.

Conor Daly returns to the Roscommon team having missed the league fixtures against Kerry and Donegal through injury. The return of the Padraig Pearses player sees team captain Brian Stack moved out to centre-back.

Daly is one of three Pearses players in the Roscommon backline alongside his brother Niall and David Murray. Last year's intermediate champions St Dominic's have two players in the starting XV - Eoin McCormack and Keith Doyle.

Eddie Nolan is named in the match-day panel for the first time this season and he is one of three St Brigid's players on the bench, the others being Robbie Dolan and Ruaidhrí Fallon.

Meanwhile, Mayo manager Kevin McStay has made one change to the team which started last Sunday's league final victory over Galway, with Donnacha McHugh replacing Sam Callinan in defence.

There is plenty of big match experience on the Mayo bench, including Cillian O'Connor, Tommy Conroy, Jason Doherty, Eoghan McLaughlin and Pádraig O'Hora.

Sunday’s match at Hastings MacHale Park will commence at 4pm.
