Athlone bridge lights up for International Women's Day
Athlone's railway bridge was lit up in purple last night (Wednesday) to mark International Women's Day.
The bridge was one of a number of Irish Rail landmarks that received special lighting treatments for the occasion.
Others included Heuston Station in Dublin and the Boyne viaduct in Drogheda.
Irish Rail said it was inviting women and girls, at all stages of their career and education, to consider a career in the railway sector as it strives to build a more equal workforce.
