Midlands Polish Community to hold Independence Day event in Athlone

The Midlands Polish Community will host a family festival in Athlone to celebrate Polish Independence Day this weekend.

The event will feature an indoor market with crafts, lots of children's activities including face painting, a run for which all participants will receive a commemorative medal, dance workshops, a National Rosette ribbon making workshop and more.

There will be a WWII re-enactment group on hand to display the uniforms of the Polish Army from the Second World War.

There will also be delicious Polish food on offer and a raffle with great prizes.

The following organisation will also be present on the day: Order of Malta Ireland - Ambulance Corps - Athlone, Athlone Fire Brigade, Roscommon Civil Defence and Custume Barracks Athlone - Army Armored Unit.

The group is seeking volunteer videographers to film the events of the day. Volunteers must be available from 11am to 4pm on the day and lunch will be provided. Those interested should email tv@polishcommunity.ie for more information.

The Polish Independence Day event will take place on Sunday, November 6 in Drum Community Centre, Athlone from 12pm until 4pm.

National Independence Day in Poland is a significant day in the Polish calendar every year. Families and friends come together to mark the occasion with food, music and traditional ceremonies. The day is an opportunity for the people of Poland to gather, commemorate the anniversary of the restoration of Poland’s sovereignty and remember their shared history.
