As the countdown continues to their clash with Shelbourne in Sunday's FAI Cup final, the manager and two of the players from the Athlone Town women's team have received nominations for the 2022 SSE Airtricity Women's National League awards.

Striker Emily Corbet has been shortlisted for the prestigious 'Player of the Year' honour, along with Peamount United veteran Áine O'Gorman and Wexford Youths midfielder Ellen Molloy.

Athlone's Muireann Devaney, meanwhile, is in contention for the 'Young Player of the Year' award along with Shelbourne's Jessie Stapleton and Emma Doherty of Sligo Rovers.

Following a memorable campaign in which Athlone finished as runners-up to Shelbourne in the league, manager Tommy Hewitt has been recognised with a nomination for the 'Manager of the Year' award along with last year's winner, Shelbourne boss Noel King, and Sligo Rovers's Steve Feeney.

On the night of the Awards, the best XI that makes up the Team of the Season will also be announced, along with the EA SPORTS WNL Under-19 and Under-17 Players of the Year.
