Anam Cara launch support group for bereaved parents in Midlands

Anam Cara, an organisation supporting bereaved parents, is launching a monthly support group this September in the Midlands.

Taking place on the 2nd Wednesday every month in the Mullingar Park Hotel, Anam Cara will provide a safe and comfortable place for bereaved parents living in the Midlands area. On Wednesday, September 14, any bereaved parent is welcome to attend the group.

Speaking about the launch of the Midlands group, Anam Cara Service Manager, Sharon Vard commented: "Anam Cara planned to get this much need group started in 2020, but Covid 19 put a stop to that"

"Anam Cara Midlands will provide a safe and comfortable place for bereaved parents, living in the Midlands area, to access information and support.

"The most important powerful part of the evening is the solace of meeting other parents and knowing you are not alone.

"It is these other Mams and Dads who understand the grief, loneliness and pain. Those further on their journey giving hope to the recently bereaved parents that they will find their way to cope and survive," Sharon Vard said.

Anam Cara, the only organisation of its kind in Ireland, provides services for all bereaved parents. It holds fourteen support group meetings across the country, each and every month. All of their support services are free of charge.

On Wednesday, September 14, Anam Cara will hold their Midlands meeting in The Mullingar Park Hotel at 7.20pm. All bereaved parents from the area are welcome, regardless of the age their child died or circumstances of their death. There is no need to register, just arrive on the evening at 7.20pm.
