Venues confirmed for MCS and Bower All-Ireland finals

The venues for the Lidl All-Ireland Schools Senior finals have been confirmed by the LGFA, as two local schools bid for glory on the national stage.

Our Lady's Bower, Athlone will face Sacred Heart Secondary School, Clonakilty in the All-Ireland Senior 'C' final at Sean Treacy Park, Tipperary town this Friday, April 1 (throw-in 12.30pm

And Moate Community School will take on St Mary's High School, Midleton in the All-Ireland Senior 'A' decider in Bruff, Co. Limerick on Saturday (throw-in 2pm).

Meanwhile, Glennon Brothers Pearse Park, Longford will host the Senior 'B' final between Mount Saint Michael, Claremorris and Coláiste Oiriall of Monaghan on Friday.

The 2020 and 2021 competitions were unfortunately cancelled due to the Covid-19 pandemic and there is a palpable sense of excitement surrounding the 2022 finals.

Moate CS - who reached the 2020 final but never got a chance to play it - are bidding to become Westmeath’s very first Senior 'A' winners. For their part, St Mary’s will aim to become Cork’s first competition winners since Loreto, Fermoy, back in 2013.

MCS will look to build on the school’s impressive recent progress, as they were crowned Junior 'B' champions in 2019. The Moate CS v St Mary's final will be live-streamed on the LGFA’s Facebook page.

Like the Senior 'A' final, the Senior 'C' equivalent is a Westmeath v Cork affair, as Our Lady’s Bower, Athlone, take on their Clonakilty opponents.

Last Saturday, the Junior 'A', 'B' and 'C' finals took place. Loreto College, Cavan defeated Sacred Heart, Westport in the Junior ‘A’ final; Loreto Convent, Omagh overcame Presentation Secondary School, Thurles in the Junior 'B' decider; and Mercy Mounthawk, Tralee defeated Maynooth Education Campus in the Junior ‘C’ final.
