Grennans secure planning for new family home

Less than four months after their family home was completely gutted in a devastating fire, the Grennan family from Mount Temple have secured planning permission to rebuild their home on the existing site.

Westmeath County Council granted conditional planning permission to Lisa Grennan for the construction of a single-storey dwelling and all associated site works to replace the fire damaged dwelling previously granted planning permission on a site at Carn Park in Mount Temple.

Lisa and her husband, Nigel, lost their home in Carn Park in a fire on October 14 last. The house was unoccupied when the blaze broke out, and within hours of the devastating fire the local community of Mount Temple/Baylin had set up a GoFundMe appeal which raised the staggering sum of €100k to assist the young family with the rebuilding of their home.

The local authority issued the planning decision on February 2 last, and a final grant of planning permission will issue within four weeks and three days provided no appeal has been made to An Bórd Pleanala against the development in the interim period.
