Man hospitalised after accident on M6 motorway

A male motorist has been taken to hospital following a single-vehicle accident on the M6 motorway in Westmeath this afternoon.

It's understood that the driver's vehicle rolled over on its side during the incident, which happened on the east-bound section of the M6 between Junction 5 (Kilbeggan) and Junction 6 (Moate) at around 4pm.

At the time of writing, the section of the motorway where the accident occurred was being sealed off, and diversions were being put in place.

A representative of Athlone Garda Station said the extent of the driver's injuries was not yet known.
