An Post Coosan site for sale

The former An Post mail distribution centre in Coosan is being offered for sale in two lots with a guide price of €1.2 million.

One lot comprises of a single storey distribution unit of 2,499 sqm with 12 dock levellers on a 4.1 acre site, while the second lot comprises a greenfield site that extends to 3.1 acres.

Commercial Property Advisors TWM are guiding the sale with €830,000 for the centre, and €370,000 for the greenfield site.

A spokesperson for An Post said that there has been "a really healthy level of interest in the property" since it was advertised.

"We have in the past used the property as an overflow distribution centre at busy times like Christmas, and we will probably do so again this year," he continued.

"While it's too early to say who could purchase the sites or move in, we are excited to see it have a new lease of life and believe it would be an ideal location for a number of enterprises."

Over the last number of years An Post has centralised its operations in Athlone to a modern facility at Athlone Business Park, which was built in 2003.

Also, in 2020, the semi-state body sought to engage with Westmeath County Council over the possibility of zoning land including its existing Coosan mail centre for housing use.

At the time, An Post argued that the location of its Coosan site, meant it “could be well-placed to provide sustainable residential development” in according with the objectives of the National Planning Framework and the RSES.
