Major upgrade of condition of IDA park planned
A major upgrade and refurbishment of the roads, pavements, footpaths and other services in the IDA Business and Technology Park in Athlone is planned.
IDA Ireland is currently inviting tenders for the works which is due to commence by the middle of January and is expected to be completed by autumn next year.
It follows a condition review carried out in 2019 by consultants who were asked to compile a remedial works proposal.
On foot of the report, IDA Ireland is now looking for work to be carried out on parts of the road network, footpaths, kerbing, line marking and signage, speed ramps, manhole covers and on the watermain network and the surface water and foul sewer networks.
Planned is the installation of a new road finish on certain parts of the road network, the rectification of settled areas or road surface where previous trenching had been carried out and the removal and reinstatement of damaged areas of the paved surface roadway and of damaged footpaths.
The project will also involve the replacement of dislodged, damaged or missing kerbing and in some places the installation of new footpaths and kerbing.
New line marking and signage is planned along with the removal of some existing speed ramps and the installation of new speed ramps.
The existing watermain network is to be replaced and damaged manhole covers and service covers are the be replaced.
Remedial works to the existing surface water and foul sewer networks is also proposed.
