Tang reach intermediate final after extra time victory over Castledaly
Tang are now preparing for their second Westmeath intermediate football decider in a row, having overcome Castledaly after extra-time in a dramatic semi-final at Páirc Chiaráin last Saturday evening.
Sometimes a final scoreline provides little hint as to how a game unfolded and this was one of those occasions. Seven minutes into the second half, Castledaly were leading 0-11 to 0-6 and appeared to be almost cruising into the final. However, from then to the remainder including extra-time, they managed to add a mere two points. In contrast, a resurgent Tang scored 1-12 during the same period.
The final score flatters Tang with a late goal embellishing their victory at a stage when the cause was lost for Castledaly. Yet there could be no disputing that Tang fully deserved their victory.
