Athlone vaccination centre closing and moving to Moate

The HSE has confirmed that this Sunday, August 29, will be the last day on which vaccinations will be administered at Athlone IT's International Arena.

The centre, which has been used for Covid-19 vaccinations over the last four months, is being replaced by a new vaccination site in Moate.

Vaccines are to be administered at Moate Community Centre from Thursday next, September 2.

This is one of several changes to vaccination centre sites across the country, as the proportion of unvaccinated people continues to decrease.

Covid jabs have been provided at AIT since April 21.

This weekend, on its final two days of vaccination use, the AIT centre will be operating walk-in clinics at which people can get their first or second dose of the Pfizer vaccine without an appointment.

The walk in clinics will be operating this Saturday, August 28, from 2pm to 6pm, and on Sunday, August 29, from 10am to 6pm.

If you are presenting for your second Pfizer jab, at least 21 days must have passed since your first dose, and you are required to bring your vaccination record card with you on the day.
