Shane Curran set for 'Laochra Gael' spotlight on TG4 this week
The sporting career of the flamboyant Shane Curran will be explored in this Thursday night's episode of the Laochra Gael documentary series on TG4.
The former Roscommon, St Brigid's and Athlone Town goalkeeper will be profiled in the programme which starts at 9.30pm.
Frankie Dolan, and the Hollywood actor and Boyle native Chris O’Dowd, are among those who will share their perspectives on Curran's career in the documentary.
Curran also reflects on his 2013 All-Ireland club championship success with St Brigid's, saying: "When that whistle went, for the end of that match... that's the moment in time that you've been waiting for."
The Castlerea native, who guided Padraig Pearses to two Roscommon SFC final appearances during his time in charge there, was recently appointed as Caulry football manager for the 2021 season.
Last week’s Laochra Gael episode featured Galway camogie legend and former AIT student Thérèse Maher.
Following the programme on Shane Curran, it will be the turn of another colourful figure in former Birr and Offaly hurling star Johnny Pilkington (February 4).
Kildare’s Dermot Earley, son of the Roscommon football legend of the same name, will be profiled on February 11.
The Shane Curran episode of Laochra Gael airs on Thursday, January 28, at 9.30pm on TG4.
