Planning permission for 35 new Moate homes

A 35-home residential development has got the backing of council planners to proceed in Moate.

Applicant Leslie Shaw got the green light recently to progress plans for a development at Jones Lake Road, Moate, which is to the east of the current Ard na Locha development on a partially-developed site, which also adjoins Moate Business College.

A mix of house types is earmarked for the 1.09 hectare site, along with 52 car parking spaces.

In all, the project is made up of 15 three-bedroom two-storey semi-detached units, three three-bedroom two-storey terraced units, seven four-bedroom two-storey semi-detached units, and one four-bedroom two-storey detached unit.

There are a further three blocks of two-storey plus attic duplex units, each of which contains a one two-bedroom two-storey semi-detached end unit, one two-bedroom ground floor apartment unit, and a one three-bedroom duplex unit on the first and second floors.

Back in November, the applicant submitted further information requested by the local authority in relation to the road circulation route proposed after planners asked for a revised site layout with traffic calming measures. In addition, the local authority asked for more data in connection with a timber staggered stile to provide greenway access from the site, along with several questions about surface water and footpaths.

It must have passed the test as Westmeath County Council granted approval to the project on December 3 last subject to compliance with 16 separate planning conditions. It's unclear the exact nature of the conditions as they have yet to be uploaded on the council website.
