Hurling: Westmeath name starting XV for Meath clash

Westmeath senior hurling manager Shane O’Brien has largely kept faith with the side which lost to Kerry in the Joe McDonagh Cup recently, as his charges head to Páirc Tailteann, Navan tomorrow (1pm) in search of a much-needed win against Meath.

The starting fifteen, named earlier tonight, sees Clonkill’s Niall Mitchell get the nod ahead of Lough Lene Gaels’ Shane Williams, who started against the Kingdom.

With forward Niall O’Brien suspended after picking up a red card in the last outing, Cullion’s Jack Galvin – who was injured in the opening day defeat against Antrim – returns to the starting line-up.

Meanwhile, Eoin Price, who featured at midfield against Kerry, has been named at corner forward in place of O’Brien, alongside veteran clubmate Brendan Murtagh.

Westmeath will be hoping for a morale-boosting result against the Royals, with last year’s finalists having lost heavily in their first two outings.
