RechargeIT opens store in Athlone

RechargeIT is a new IT store located in the heart of Athlone.

Owned by local man Pearse Hegarty, RechargeIT deals with all things IT related including phones sales, repairs and accessories, laptop sales and repairs and much more.

It also provides printing, scanning and photocopying services to the general public.

The new shop opened in early August at 10 Sean Costello Street, Athlone, directly opposite the front entrance to Dunnes Stories in Irishtown.

It's the second RechargeIT store in the midlands.

With an outlet in Mullingar since 2009, RechargeIT has already firmly established itself as a reliable and trusted Irish-owned company with a strong emphasis on customer service.

Pearse said: “As a native of Athlone, having built up a strong reputation across the Midlands over the last eleven years and with a loyal customer base in Athlone already, I felt it was time now to service them from Athlone.”

And so far, the response has been very positive.

“It's been busier than I had anticipated. There's been great local support and I'm so thankful to everyone who has passed on good wishes and who has supported us either in Mullingar or since opening in Athlone.”

Recharge IT is known as a market leader in mobile phone sales in the midlands.

It deals in new, pre-owned and refurbished phones, across all the major brands including Apple, Samsung, Huawei and Xiaomi.

Recharge IT also has a busy trade in phone repairs.

With three experienced technicians employed in Athlone, it offers professional advice and a quick turnaround time on phone repairs at competitive prices.

Recharge IT hosts regular sales events and discounts on both repairs and phone sales – through its Facebook page.

It boasts a wide range of laptops for sale, both new, and refurbished and also carries out laptop repairs.

Recharge IT's Christmas club will get underway shortly, allowing customers to save for a phone or laptop through five equal instalments (each of 20%) paid in the run up to Christmas.

Visitors to the Sean Costello Street store can also view a range of phone accessories including covers and cases in a brand-new shop premises where COVID-19 guidelines and regulations are strictly enforced.

RechargeIT also provides A4 and A3 printing facilities, as well as photocopying and scanning services to the general public.

Pearse is one of six children of Pearse and Mary Hegarty from Connaught Gardens, Athlone, and as an Athlonian knows the importance of local clubs, organisations and charities to the town.

RechargeIT is well known for its support of local fundraisers and since its arrival in Athlone has already backed the likes of Athlone Boat Club, the Noah and Rowan Benson Gately Support Group, the Saoirse Murphy GoFundMe appeal and Willow Park FC.

Pearse explained that he believed it was important for local businesses to support the wider community.

“I always think it's important to give something back.”

Recharge IT is one of the rare examples of a business opening a new outlet during the Covid-19 pandemic.

“I decided to be brave and take the plunge. Opening during this time is a gamble but so far it's been successful and paid off,” he explained.

He currently has five people employed and hopes to expand to other parts of the Midlands in the future.

“I like the idea of employing people and giving people careers.”
