Local greyhound successes
Following a relatively quiet few months the local Greyhound scene is back on full throttle with three winners the past week. On Monday night last week Brian Egan and Temple Sue were successful in the first round of The Sierra Communications Longford Derby, winning the round one heat in a time of 28.59 and at a generous price of 3/1. Temple Sue was quickly back in round two action on Friday night and was again successful, this time in 28.84 and at a price of 6/4. Temple Sue is a very well bred bitch by Razldazl Billy out of Springwell Sue. Brian trains this dog himself in Mount Temple. Benny Smyth is another who enjoyed second round success in the Sierra Communications Longford Derby, when Woodhill Iota, trained by Robert Gleeson, finished well to win the heat in a time of 28.58, the starting price this time was 6/4. Running side by side with the The Sierra Communications Longford Derby is the Longford GOBA 570 A3, with Andy Gillivan and Wash Your Neck, progressing to the next round by finishing in third place on Monday of last week. Chuck Kelly was not as lucky with Lively Aussie who came home in a disappointing fourth place. In Mullingar on Saturday night Joanne Gillivan was in the winners enclosure when Lubagh Blue, trained by Tony Fallon, won in a time of 29.64 having started as second favourite at 2/1.
