Moate Show announces alternative venue

Due to the recent bad weather and following on from last year's cancellation due to the state of the ground, it was decided by a unanimous decision from the show committee to look for an alternative show ground to ensure that the show would go ahead this year. A Browne of A Browne Oil has kindly offered his land to facilitate the show. The new show grounds will be on the old Dublin road out of Moate on the left hand side beside Browne's Filling station. With the new motorway this will provide great access to the show and no traffic delays are expected on the day of the show, indeed with the new motorway structure in Ireland it will make Moate very commutable from many parts of the country. This has added an additional level of excitement to the show with people now looking forward to the new layout. This will allow additional car parking as well as more room for show classes. Interest in the show this year is up on this time last year, this is very evident in the enterprise section where there are a large number of enquiries, this section is for small businesses starting up and gives them a chance to promote their products. The show will have all the usual classes which will include cattle, sheep, horses, show classes, show jumping, including the puissance which has become very popular now at a number of shows and a big entry is expected. Cookery, vegetable, poultry, dogs, arts and crafts and photography are other popular classes at the show. The photography section is growing at a very fast rate and this we can only assume is due to the fact that almost every home now has a digital camera and all new phones now include a very good camera. There are numerous classes for children details of which can be found in the schedule. A schedule of the show and entry forms can be obtained from Angela Jordan, Windmill Road, Moate (090 6481318).
