Athlone Under 19s secure crucial point
Athlone Under 19s secured a battling point against second-placed Limerick to remain four points clear of their opponents with three games remaining. In a see-saw encounter at home tonight (Saturday), Athlone raced into an early two-goal lead through Ian Sweeney and Dylan McCabe but were pegged back as Limerick hit the net twice before half-time. The visitors edged in front shortly after the hour mark but Ronan Morris popped up in injury time with a crucial header to equalise. The draw means Athlone need two wins from their final three games to secure the Under 19 National League crown and promotion to the Elite Division.
