Westmeath referee Barry Kelly will take charge of his fourth All-Ireland senior hurling final on Sunday September 7, when Kilkenny face Tipperary at Croke Park.
The GAA announced the appointment of the highly respected Mullingar official on Monday.
Offaly’s Brian Gavin (Clara) will be the standby referee for the eagerly awaited senior final, while Tipperary’s Fergal Horgan is poised to take charge of the All-Ireland minor hurling final between Kilkenny and Limerick.
Kelly previously took charge of the 2012 final between Kilkenny and Galway, the 2008 decider between Kilkenny and Waterford, and the 2006 final between Kilkenny and Cork.
