Another little bit of nostalgia
As students get ready to return to school I was reminded by Joe Daly that it is 60 years since the Carmelite College first opened its doors with a first year and a second year class. The school opened on September 23rd 1949 and this is the photograph which was presented to the pupils at a golden jubilee reunion ten years ago. Many current pupils are familiar with the Fr McGrath award which is still presented at the annual Moate Community School Awards Night but I would suggest that most are not aware that Fr McGrath was present on the opening day of the Carmelite College all those years ago.
