Midland Warriors finish on a high

The Midland Warriors U8s, U10s and U12s ended their season last Sunday with a match at home against Birr. The Warriors were determined to finish the season well and displayed this determination on the playing field. The U12s enjoyed a tenacious match with their Birr counterparts and the draw result was probably a fair reflection of both teams" efforts. The U10s played a serious of mini-matches against Birr and overall gained the bigger winning margin. The U8s, with a large squad present, put in a tremendous performance and gained a good win against an equally tenacious opposition. A large crowd of parents and supporters were present to cheer on all three squads" efforts and also to applaud them at the conclusion of the match and the season. 'It"s been a fantastic season and we have been delighted with the large player numbers and the support we have received from parents and the the wider community,' said Chairman Hugh Flynn. 'We have received a lot of interest from prospective players in all age groups who will be joining next us next season. Most of whom are complete beginners and therefore we look forward to the new season with considerable optimism,' he continued. The Warriors have received a lot of support from GAA enthusiasts who have been keen to encourage their children to play Rugby in the winter months to enhance their ball handling and general sports skills for the subsequent GAA season. The rugby players seem to have benefited considerably on their return to the GAA playing field. The Midland Warriors would like to take this opportunity to thank all the parents for their support over the season and look forward to seeing them again in the new season in October. Moate Community Games After an absence of many years Moate will be entering an U11 rugby team in the Westmeath Community Games and we wish them the best of luck.
