One4all Cycle4haiti set to spin into Athlone
This May bank holiday weekend, a peleton of cyclists will be arriving in Athlone as part of the first leg of the One4all Cycle4haiti, a two day charity cycle to Eyre Square, Galway. Cyclists who have set off from Dublin, Sligo, Cork and Carlow will be settling in for an early night on Saturday, May 4th in Athlone as they prepare for the second leg of their spin.
The fourth annual One4all Cycle4haiti aims to raise €300,000 for The Soul of Haiti Foundation and locals are encouraged to show their support by stepping out to cheer on the team as they spin into Athlone. An early start on Sunday will see the peleton on course through to Ballinasloe, Aughrim, Kilreekil, Loughrea, Craughwell, Oranmore and onwards to Galway where they will reach their final goal.
Last year the money raised by One4all Cycle4haiti went directly to support the development of Soul of Haiti Foundation projects which has enabled the organisation to provide medical and other supplies to assist with the care of local children. The funds also provided local fishermen with new boats and safety equipment and built an enterprise centre for the village.
Michael Dawson, One4all CEO and co-founder of the Soul of Haiti Foundation said, “The level of support for Cycle4haiti has been phenomenal to date. This year, we want to raise the bar and even exceed our expectations. The cycle is a small challenge that can help make a big difference to the lives of people in Haiti and people of all levels can take part.”
Michael Carey of the Soul of Haiti Foundation said; “We’re delighted to be working with One4all again this year on such a fantastic event. The enthusiasm and determination of the One4all team and the cyclists to help our efforts in Haiti is inspiring and we’re so grateful to everyone who is involved.”
