BREAKING Gardai probe suspicious death in Athlone

Garda in Athlone are investigating the suspicious death of a man in Athlone tonight.

A body of a man, believed to be a Polish national, was recovered from the River Shannon tonight close to the Athlone relief road bridge.

Gardai say they, at this stage, are treating the death of the man, in his late 20s or early 30s, as suspicious.

There are also unconfirmed reports locally of a man being bundled into a car in the town earlier today. It's not clear if there is any connection between the events.
