Over 2000 worth of jewellery swiped from taughmaconnell home
Over €2,000 worth of jewellery was stolen from a house in Taughmaconnell at the weekend in what gardai believe may have been part of a targeted spate of burglaries by travelling criminals across the county.
They are appealing for the public’s help in relation to four separate weekend break-ins in Rahara, Mount Talbot, Taughmaconnell and Roscommon town which they suspect may be linked.
All of the break-ins happened between Saturday and Sunday and in each case the dwellings were unoccupied at the time. Entry was gained by either forcing a window or the front door in each case and every house was widely ransacked. Jewellery was taken from two of the homes and nothing from the remaining two dwellings.
Thought to be in the townland of Artane, the Taughmaconnell home was hit between 3pm on Saturday and the early hours of Sunday morning, while the Mount Talbot home was targeted between midday and 9pm. The home at Skrine, Rahara, was entered between 5.30pm and 8.30pm, also on Saturday evening. It’s believed a number of premises in Longford were also broken into on the same day.
Gardai believe the culprits travelled between the areas, possibly in quick succession, and they are looking for anyone who noticed anything unusual, however small, over the weekend to contact them in Taughmaconnell Garda Station 090 9683612 or Roscommon Garda Station 090 6638300.
