Second join our boys wear orange day underway

The second annual Join Our Boys Wear Orange Day is underway today.
The aim of the day is to raise awareness of Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy (DMD), while also raising funds for the Join Our Boys trust.
The trust was established last year to provide funds for brothers Archie, George and Isaac Naughton, who all have DMD, and are the sons of Paula and Padraic Naughton. The family lives in Roscommon town and Padraic is a native of Ballydangan.
Currently there is no treatment or cure for DMD, but the trust is raising funds for research into the condition, as well as for a purpose built home which will be used by the Naughton family.
Last year’s Wear Orange Day was a huge success locally, but this year the trust is hoping to spread its message further.
Today George and Isaac celebrate their 5th birthday and orange is their favourite colour, hence the relevance of Wear Orange Day. The Join Our Boys Trust is inviting everyone to wear something orange today to show support and solidarity for children living with Duchene Muscular Dystrophy. If you can the trust asks you to donate €2, or whatever you can to the trust. Your support will make a huge difference.
The ultimate aim of the trust is to help provide funds to find a treatment, ideally a cure, for all children diagnosed with this catastrophic disease. Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy affects between 1 in 3,500 and 1 in 6,000 boys and 1 in 50 million girls born each year.
