Breaking committee defers decision on athlone town licence bid
Athlone Town has yet to secure a licence to play in the Airtricity League first division, it has emerged.
The club has until Monday next to provide further information to the committee.
This afternoon it was announced that the FAI's independent club licencing committee had issued twelve Premier Division licences and four First Division licences.
However, it said it had reserved a decision on the licence application of Athlone Town 'pending the satisfactory receipt of further information'.
The same applies to Cobh Ramblers, while the committee said it was 'seeking a further clarification from Bray Wanderers in relation to its application'.
Athlone Town FC said it was making no comment on the issue.
The following 2015 licences were awarded by the Independent Club Licensing Committee:
Premier Division:
Bohemian FC, Cork City FC, Derry City FC , Drogheda United FC, Dundalk FC, Galway United FC, Limerick FC, Longford FC, Shamrock Rovers FC, Sligo Rovers FC, Waterford United FC, St. Patricks Athletic FC, .
First Division:
Finn Harps FC, UCD FC, Shelbourne FC, Wexford Youths FC,
(Cabinteely FC were issued a First Division Licence on 28th January)
