Mcfadden welcomes 50000 funding for athlone forige
Fine Gael TD for Longford/Westmeath, Gabrielle McFadden, has warmly welcomed funding approval of €50,000 for the Foróige youth organisation in Athlone.
Deputy McFadden said the funding allocation would be used for the provision of multipurpose rooms, the renovation of back stage areas and the upgrade of windows at Foróige's centre in St Mary's Hall, Northgate Street, Athlone.
Athlone Foróige is among 16 youth projects to be allocated monies yesterday (Tuesday) by Minister for Children and Youth Affairs, Dr James Reilly TD, to fund capital works.
“I am delighted that Athlone Foróige has received this significant funding which will assist in improving the quality of their services and facilities to the benefit of many young people involved,' said Deputy McFadden.
“As we all know, a lot of energy and resources go into supporting youth projects; they are largely funded by donations and are kept going thanks to the hard work of volunteers.
“Athlone Foróige is a deserving beneficiary of this funding and they are doing fantastic work with young people in the community. Foróige is Ireland’s leading youth organisation in Ireland and has been working with young people for more than sixty years. Foróige works with thousands of young people aged between 10 and18 years of age through volunteer-led clubs and staff-led youth projects
“The provision of this substantial funding for Athlone Foróige underscores the Government’s ongoing commitment to enhance the quality of youth services which add such value to our communities.”
