Moate"s match attax swap shop

The craze that has every newsagent and young child in this country tearing his or her hair out due to a severe shortage of supply is coming back to Moate. On Saturday, May 16 at the Community Hall Moate, Co. Westmeath, from 10am to 4pm children can meet and compare, swap and trade their precious Match Attax cards. Inspired by the surplus cards accumulated by his own children, Moate resident Mick Jones decided to organise this vast undertaking. Last year the gathering raised €2,200 for Autism and the St Vincent De Paul Society. This year there is an autographed jersey, signed picture prints and other memorabilia for raffle. The autographed Liverpool jersey will become a collectors item if Liverpool take the Premiership title as Robbie Keane is one of the signatures on the jersey which also carried a certificate of authentication. This year there is also a race night which will be held in the Gap House on the Saturday night with the first race at 9.45pm approximately. Bring your children to the second Match Attax swap shop and help to raise funds for the Sudden Infant Death Syndrome, South Westmeath Hospice and St Vincent de Paul. Come along and help the collectors to finish their collection and make a donation to the charities. Contact Mick on 085 7672874 for more information.
