Remarkable Rohan is our Sports Star of the Year!

Double gold medal-winning paralympian Mark Rohan was the overall winner at the Westmeath Independent Sports Awards 2012 which took place in Athlone's Hodson Bay Hotel last Friday night. The presentation of the top award to the Ballinahown man capped a very enjoyable gala awards ceremony which was presented by RTE's Robbie Irwin. The readers' choice award went to 15-year-old soccer starlet Aaron O'Neill, while another figure from the world of soccer, Pauric Nicholson, was honoured with a Hall of Fame award. * For full coverage and photos from the awards night, see this Wednesday's edition of the Westmeath Independent.
