Who is your Specsavers Super'Earo'?
Specsavers Athlone would like to invite you to a family event at their Golden Island store this Saturday March 2 to celebrate World Hearing Day.
There will be face-painting and balloons on the day and children will have the opportunity to enter a colouring competition and to nominate their own Super'Earo', such as a grandparent or family member, detailing why they are a Super'Earo' to them. A fantastic prize for the winner and the nominated Super'Earo' will be up for grabs.
Specsavers Athlone will also offer free hearing screenings to customers at any stage over the weekend.
To mark World Hearing Day, Specsavers Audiologists Ireland are delighted to announce their continued partnership with Beaumont Hospital Cochlear Implant Team for 2019, having raised €15,000 for the charity by the end of last year.
Together, Specsavers and Beaumont Hospital raise awareness of the importance of proactive hearing health, encouraging Irish consumers to be aware of unusual hearing indicators, with the aim of preventing deafness and hearing loss. They also encourage those in need to seek treatment where possible and not to feel shame or embarrassment about needing hearing aids or support.
Audiologist at Specsavers, Athlone, Lynn Morris comments: “With one in six Irish adults affected by hearing loss, it is important for us to continue to raise awareness around good hearing health. A shocking 69% of adults have not had their hearing tested in the last five years. Despite the high statistic, the main reason people cited for not getting regular hearing tests is that they believed their hearing is fine. However, hearing loss can be gradual and many people may not notice that they are struggling. It’s important to keep on top of it as so much pain can be prevented.”
