'Exceptionally cold' weather forecast for next week

Met Eireann has warned people to expect "exceptionally cold weather" and "disruptive snow showers" next week.

The weather advisory was issued today (Friday) by the metereological service. 

"Disruptive" snow showers have been forecast from Tuesday onwards, particularly in the east and southeast, which means there is possibility that some schools might be affected. 

More specific forecasts, with colour-coded snow and ice warnings, are expected to be issued by Met Eireann in the coming days.
