BREAKING: 'Boxer' Moran to stay on in Ministerial job
Kevin 'Boxer' Moran is to remain in his Minister of State role for the remainder of the current Government's term.
The Athlone man had been rotating the role, which carries responsibility for the Office of Public Works and Flood Relief, with his Independent Alliance colleague Sean Canney.
Mr Canney served as Minister of State for the first year of the Government's term but was succeeded by 'Boxer' last June.
In a statement issued today (Thursday) the Independent Alliance said 'Boxer' would now continue in the role "for the remainder of the term of this Government."
The announcement was made after "recent media commentary as to who would fill the role going forward after two years in Government."
The statement said the Independent Alliance "met this afternoon and expressed its support for Minister of State Moran and the work he has been progressing while in office."
