Major national hotel chain acquiring Glasson Golf Hotel
Glasson Golf Hotel and Country Club is in the process of being acquired by a major national hotel and entertainment group, the Westmeath Independent has learned.
Oakmount, which is connected with the Press Up entertainment group (who own and operate 34 businesses across the country, employing over 1,000 people) is understood to be purchasing the Glasson property.
Press Up runs the well-known Dublin hotels, The Clarence and The Dean, and is connected to property developer, Paddy McKillen Jnr.
Glasson Golf Hotel offers four star accommodation to guests, with a total of 65 classic and deluxe rooms as well as suites, many of which offer golf and lake views. The Banqueting Suite is one of the most popular wedding venues in the Midlands, and the Championship golf course, which was designed by Christie O'Connor Jnr has magnificent views over Lough Ree.
Neither Glasson Golf Hotel or Oakmount would comment on the sale, but it is understood that the hotel will operate as normal with all staff retained and bookings being unaffected.
