Athlone jockey secures big Christmas win

2019 drew to a close in sensational style for Athlone jockey Kielan Woods. Woods followed up a St Stephen's Day victory in Market Rasen yesterday, with a fine win at Kempton this afternoon. Riding 10/1 shot Coded Message for trainer Ben Case, Woods pushed the six year old to a comfortable victory in the Ladbrokes Mares Handicap Hurdle. Here's the closing stages:

 

It's been a great 2019 for Woods who also secured his first Cheltenham Festival winner aboard Croco Bay in the Grand Annual Chase at odds of 66/1 in March.

Woods was chosen as one of the Westmeath Independent Sport Stars of the Month for March in recognition of the win.
