Mattress Mick looks to Athlone for new store

Colourful bedding retailer Mattress Mick has announced a multi-million euro plans to expand across Ireland, including Athlone, national reports at the weekend indicated.

According to the national media, Michael 'Mick' Flynn, who is Managing Director of the chain, has picked eight different locations for new stores, and the list includes Athlone.


The company, which currently has three stores in Coolock, Naas Road and Pearse Street in Dublin, along with another in Drogheda, reportedly proposes to spend betwen €750,000 and €1.2m in the expansion rollout over the next two years.
Mattress Mick, who styles himself as the 'Mattress Price Fighter' is known for his viral marketing campaigns, videos and songs selling bedding and furniture. 


He was also the subject of the popular docu-film 'Mattress Men' back in 2016.

 

New outlets are in the pipeline for Cork, Limerick, Waterford, Athlone, Sligo, Bray, Wexford and Sandyford.
At the time of going to press a spokesperson for Mattress Mick had yet to respond to a query from Westmeath Independent in relation to the Athlone store plans.
