Westmeath County Council is ruling out the prospect of a footpath on one side of the road in Glasson.

Continuous footpath ruled out in Glasson

Westmeath County Council has ruled out the possibility of a footpath on the west side of Glasson village.

The news emerged in response to a request from Cllr Frankie Keena for an update on proposals to provide a continuous footpath on the Garda Station side of the road in Glasson.

The council responded: "It is not possible to provide a footpath on the West side of the N55 in the vicinity of the Garda Station as there is insufficient space/land available within the road space for a path to meet the required standards."

It added: "There is a footpath on the East side of the street which serves the need for the pedestrians in Glasson."
