Charming ‘Chapatti’ coming to Athlone Little Theatre

Athlone Little Theatre's second play of the season after the sell-out ‘Steel Magnolias’ is a heartwarming and charming two-hander, Chapatti by Christian O’Reilly, from April 4 to 11.

Romance is a distant memory for two lonely animal lovers living in Dublin. When forlorn Dan and his dog Chapatti cross paths with the amiable Betty and her nineteen cats, an unexpected spark begins a warm and gentle story between two people rediscovering the importance of human relationships.

Chapatti was first presented in Ireland at the Town Hall Theatre, Galway back in 2014, as part of the Galway International Arts Festival, with the late John Mahoney of 'Frasier' fame in the lead role. Since then, it has been performed many times at home and abroad, including at the RTÉ All Ireland Drama Festival in 2022 by Palace Players from Cork.

Here in Athlone, Christian O’Reilly’s gentle and witty play is directed by Billy Nott with the experienced duo of Ann Hoey playing the part of Betty, and Pat Canty playing Dan.

"The audience will love Christian O'Reilly's warm and gentle story, interspersed with humour, about two people rediscovering the importance of human relationships," says director Billy Nott.

Chapatti by Christian O’Reilly comes to Athlone Little Theatre from April 4 to 11. The Sunday matinee takes place on April 6 at 3pm. Book your tickets on www.athlonelittletheatre.ie or via Eventbrite.
